No. Under the Cosmetic Product (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 2012, products containing or releasing between 0.1% and 6% hydrogen peroxide can only be sold to dental practitioners.
Dental hygienists can only carry out tooth whitening on prescription from a dentist and a dentist should be on the premises when the first treatment is carried out. Hygienists must be trained and competent in the procedure and should also contact the DDU to check they are appropriately indemnified.
